Anesthesia bill for preventative procedure is now in collections
In January of this year I had a bilateral salpingectomy done at a hospital center. My insurance at the time was Cigna and employer provided. I was never billed for the procedure, except for a $650 anesthesia bill. I wasn’t able to handle calling and fighting insurance at the time since I was dealing with other chronic health issues and trying to stay employed at the time. I want to deal with it now that I’m not working at all, but I want to try to do this as efficiently as possible.
Am I correct in believing that this is part of the No Surprises billing law? The anesthesia bill is the only bill I’ve received. Out of the three entities involved with this (hospital center billing, insurance and collections), who should I call first? What information do I need to get when making these calls? Thank you for any information, I’m sick of this hanging over me when I thought it was something that had to be covered under this law but haven’t been positive since understanding this web of information is extra hard when you’re chronically ill.
