Finding the right health care plan

In the last decade or more I was always employed in CA and health insurance through employer was easy to access and manage.

This summer I left for Europe and now my plan is to move to Florida, beginning November. Reading up on how to sign up for a health insurance plan in Florida I find myself in a jungle of information with no real contacts in Florida or best path forward.

I am in the mid fifties and had a decent income this year, which would not allow me for this year any ADA. Next year I had planned to lower my income substantially anyway also to possibly qualify for ADA subsidies. Although I am not sure if I will pick up much work or not.

One way I thought is reaching out to key health care provider and ask for quotes. Another would be through agents, but I keep reading that is maybe not the best method. There is also the healthcare.gov support, but non of it I have any direct contact of information.

What would members with experience in that field do or focus on to find the right health care plan?
