Hello everyone,

I am 26 & live in TX. I have health insurance through my current employer. Also important to note, I am pregnant and expecting to hit my deductible & OOP max of $3800 this year and next. I was unsure if I wanted to stay at my current job or resign before maternity leave kicks in to prepare house for the baby and later be a stay at home mom. Because of this, my husband added me as a depended on his employers insurance, with a OOP maximum of $3000. Both plans are with the same insurance company.

My husband is now considering taking a job closer to home, so that insurance will change as well in the near future. I am now planning on staying at my current employer for the duration of my pregnancy. Both plans are still active, and I am within the 30-day cancellation period with my employer, so I still have options.

So TLDR, I wish we would’ve never added me to his insurance. I am now double covered and am wondering what the best course of action is.

If you were me, what would you do? Cancel my insurance at my current employer? Is there a way to get out of the plan I was just added to by my husband? If I keep both, will I have to pay both deductibles?

Thank you, this is beyond stressful as we already have enough going on (clearly!)
