PA CHIP: i just had my daughter the last week of june. my husband and i are still on our parents’ insurances since they are much better coverage than his work would give us, and free to us. the original plan was for my husband to get his work insurance and to put our daughter on it. however, after seeing how expensive his insurance would be for poor coverage, we decided we would get our daughter CHIP since we qualified. we were told that if we applied for chip in her first 30 days, they would back date her coverage and get hospital bill would be covered. so we applied and got approved with cap blue cross and when we payed our premiums to start coverage, cbc told us to call county assistance to have it back dated, and to let CA know that she didn’t have insurance her first month. we did that and submitted it. then today, we received a call that they couldn’t back date it because chip doesn’t do retro. but we applied within her first month. we don’t qualify for medical assistance. now we’re about to be stuck with a $6k medical bill.

is anybody familiar with chip? this doesn’t seem right to me. is there anything i can do?
