Miscommunication between health insurance and medical supplier – now I have to pay for it?

I just got new BCBS insurance through employment and I have a chronic condition for which use a medical device. There's a $250 deductible with my insurance. The company that sends me the supplies I need for my medical device processed my insurance over the past few weeks, and called me to let me know I had to pay for my next shipment because insurance said my deductible had not been met. The cost of the supplies is more than the deductible, so I paid it and send a message to BCBS asking to confirm that my payment will cover the deductible. They responded that "they were showing some claims are denied because they are requiring a prior authorization" and sent me (not the provider) for a completely different medical device.

I have no idea what to make of this. My supplier would have said they were awaiting a prior authorization for if that was the case – they've done that before. I know they had been in contact with my insurance because they specifically said insurance told them they would not cover it because the deductible had not yet been met. Can BCBS really say that this does not go towards my deductible because they failed to communicate that they needed a prior authorization? I am not sure what I can do to contest this if so.
