Is there a trick to finding providers in my network? Marketplace insurance.

I have a marketplace plan that includes dental. Typically we just use the local major medical hospital system which in our case is Metrohealth. My wife lost a crown and would really like to have it reattached because it's giving her massive anxiety, but the next available appointment that Metro has is in February. Obviously, we'd like to get it done MUCH sooner than that. When I go to the provider website, it gives me a list of "in network" providers, and the system lets you filter to what kind of dentist you need, so I chose General Dentistry. This should filter out places that only do dental surgery, or places that are pediatric only.

Right off the bat, it says there are 2457 general dentistry providers in my area. Color me suspicious. I've called 30 providers on my list. 20 have either answered or returned my call. 2 numbers were out of service. 2 numbers were not even dentist. 8 of the called providers that were dentists weren't even the right kind of dentists. More importantly, not a single provider who has returned my call will accept our insurance. 5 of the providers are not in any network and were upset that they were included on any providers list.

This list is the one on my insurance's website. This is what I am supposed to be using to find a provider. Am I stupid? This can't be the right way. I have to be doing something wrong. I've been calling "dentists" for HOURS. Please tell me that this isn't the optimal way to do this.
