CalOptima – Horrific customer service – took 6 phone calls to change PCP

Not sure if anyone else has a horror story but I had to follow up 6 times over three weeks to simply get my PCP changed with these clowns.

They claim you can make changes yourself on their website…except you can’t. Nor can you simply call CalOptima to change to certain providers. You have to call the health plan itself. I called AltaMed repeatedly and each time was lied to by agents who said the change had been made when it had not been.

I lost hours out of my day being put on hold for up to 30 mins at a time while these clowns figured out how to do their jobs. I had the same experience when I initially tried to sign up. That somehow also required multiple follow up phone calls where I was repeatedly lied to by agents who lacked proper knowledge of how to do their jobs.

I used to have LA Care in in LA County and never experienced anything remotely as frustrating as this. One phone call would get my PCP changed immediately. I never had a single issue with them in the 8 years I had them.

I wouldn’t wish dealing with the clowns at CalOptima on my worst enemy.
