McGowan Insurance Group owner and partner Todd Jackson (pictured) has assumed chairmanship of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (Big “I”).

The Indiana-based veteran, who has spent more than three decades in the insurance industry, is a long-time advocate and volunteer leader within the Big “I” at both state and national levels. His credentials include time spent on the Indiana board and executive committee.

In 2013, Jackson held the role of president for Big “I” Indiana. He has also served on the national board of directors, spent time on the Trusted Choice® board, and contributed to the finance committee. He joined the national executive committee in 2018.

Charles Symington, Big “I” president and chief executive, noted: “Todd’s dedication to the independent agency channel and to Big “I” members shines through in the numerous ways he’s already served the association and in his continued passion for giving back to the independent agency system.

“We’re grateful for his leadership as the Big “I” continues to evolve its technology and programs to provide members with the tools they need to succeed in the hard market and beyond.”

In his role as chairman, Jackson plans to focus on enhancing the association’s core offerings while boosting operational efficiencies. His initiatives will center on improving member services and ensuring that the Big “I” meets the changing needs of its member agencies.

Strengthening the partnership between the national association and the state-level Big “I” groups will also be a key priority for his tenure.

“I am committed to working together to overcome our biggest challenges,” Jackson stated. “And I am committed to continuing the free and open exchange of ideas with our state leaders to make the Big “I” better for our members.”

Jackson took over from Mike McBride, president of Mason-McBride in Troy, Michigan. McBride will remain on the Big “I” executive committee, serving as immediate past chair for a year.

Meanwhile, Lou Moran III, president of Inter-Agency Insurance Service in Knoxville, Tennessee, has become chairman-elect. Angela Ripley, president of VW Brown Insurance Services in Columbia, Maryland, was named vice chair for the 2024-2025 term.
