Help! New Aetna plans in a childbirth year- which should I choose?
We just were given four new insurance plans to choose from and they are much worse than our current plans (though all Aetna). Our insurance starts over in November though I am due toward the end of January. I am torn right now between the high deductible plan and two lower deductible ones because I have no idea what to expect re: the hospital bill — should I make this choice based on deductibles or based on out of pocket maximums? Whichever plan I choose is free for me (as in employer pays the premium) and my child will go on my wife’s plan. Any thoughts based on these plans which would be most ideal for child birth (likely a planned c-section):
Aetna open access managed choice POS: $5,000 deductible $6,850 out of pocket max 30% coinsurance $40 pcp copay $80 specialist copay
Aetna open access elect choice EPO: $4,000 deductible $7,500 out of pocket max 20% coinsurance $40 pcp copay $80 specialist copay
Aetna open access managed choice POS (+HDHP): $6,350 deductible $6,350 out of pocket max 0% coinsurance $0 copay after deductible
