Need advice on reapplying for life insurance after denial due to drug use

I'm a woman in my mid-twenties, healthy, and single with no dependents. Currently covered by disability and life insurance through work up to $200k. I applied for life insurance 2 years ago but was denied because I was honest about my previous psychedelic drug use. I applied through Northwestern Mutual and I definitely needed more guidance on what exactly I was doing. I didn't realize they were basically just life insurance salespeople and not actual financial advisors.

The drug use wasn't standard behavior for me, it was heavily influenced by a really terrible boyfriend. We've since broken up and I've never touched any of it since. Beyond an occasional edible (less than 10/year), I have not done any drugs since 2022. I drink socially. I have no substance abuse disorder diagnoses or any documentation of this beyond the self-disclosure in my previous application. Since I offered this information on my application, it will be in the MiB forever, yes? I already submitted a request for my records. From what I can remember, I reported one-time use within the timeframe it asked for on my application. I'm incredibly frustrated by how honest I was for what now feels like a blip in time, but the verbiage about lying on your application really freaked me out. What coverage options are a possibility for me? Should I work directly with a broker who can help me create a cover letter, etc?

Furthermore, what do agents see when you apply? A family member is the agent selling me this policy. I'd prefer for this element of my life to stay private.
