How do I help my step dad not get scammed and find new insurance?

I’m not sure if the flair I picked is correct, I have no idea what anything means, sorry in advance.

My step dad had to retire at 59 & 1/2 after yet another heart surgery, and a couple mini strokes right after, and needs health insurance. Gonna cost him $2K plus a month to keep what he has, so it’s a no go.

He put in his info in a site his previous employer sent him, marketplace health insurance .gov, or something like that.

He immediately got flooded with 40 -50 calls and a barrage of texts over the next day and a half from people claiming to be licensed providers that wanna do quotes. I told him not to respond to any, cause they almost sound like vultures just waiting for new leads to drop, like ambulance chaser lawyers.

He mentioned looking at different tier plans, from bronze to gold, and some kind of government credit he was eligible for to cover a chunk of the cost every month, but it’s so hard to understand over the phone now that he’s not really thinking properly sometimes.

Is there a site or anything I can sit down with him and go over, that has a list of reputable providers, and makes it relatively easy to see any costs he’s gonna have to shell out every month?

We’re in Ohio, he wants to stay with University Hospitals if that helps.

Really appreciate any help
