Medicaid representative messed up income information on renewal. Now have to file appeal representing myself.

37/NY/11,000 gross income.I called over the phone to do my renewal, had to report how I have a new job and they told me how to send in my income information. I did the renewal well before the final date to apply.

Couple weeks later I get a letter that my income was rejected therefore a lapse in insurance. This was AFTER the last day I was able to reapply. I called again and the new representative told me the last person to help me didn’t remove my old job therefore my new income information was rejected, told me how to fix it so I did. Thing is, one of my kids has weekly doctors appointments, they didn’t inform me they don’t accept Medicaid but only the managed care plans. I’m now on the hook for hundreds of dollars and they’ve been cleaning my bank account out to get their money owed. This has really messed everything up. I have been working hard to fix this, was told I could get it back dated but now have to do an appeal representing myself. The lady on the phone said she could see where the first representative messed up but the way the appeal agent talked, I could be shit out of luck?

I did everything like I was supposed to and there should have been no lapse in coverage. I’m beyond frustrated and sinking deeper and deeper into debt because of the first representative’s mistake. Am I utterly screwed because I’m representing myself?

The one lady I talked to said she could plainly see the mistake wasn’t on my end but there appeal agent has made me feel extremely nervous.
