Hello! I have been on my husband’s insurance forever. He only pays $214/ month for our family. His birthday is in July. We have a $2k individual and $7k family max out of pocket deductible. His company seeds an HSA yearly for all of their employees for $2k. Our kids and I have chronic health problems and multiple specialists so we have already hit our max out of pocket for this year.

I’m starting a new job Monday. Family insurance is insane at $804 a month, but it’s free for just me. (May birthday). My primary care visits and labs would be free but everything else would be back to a $2k deductible. I know it wouldn’t make sense for me to pick it up right now that we’re in our max oop but would it make sense down the line? I feel like in my case maybe it wouldn’t? Specialist visits would be $40 a visit and prescriptions are all over the place. Currently we have Optum for scripts and they’re actually pretty good once established.

I’ve always heard when you have two plans the earlier birthdate determines which policy is used first. Thanks for reading!! Have an amazing day!
