With car lovers flocking to the Monterey Peninsula for Monterey Car Week, it’s safe to say that drivers should be aware that law enforcement is out in force to stop any reckless behavior on California’s scenic roads. However, this warning comes too late for nine drivers out on Highway 1.

California Highway Patrol posted a video on social media showing a line of nine high-performance cars pulled over on the shoulder. The models included a Ferrari, Lamborghinis, McLarens, and a pair of Porsches. It’s not clear from the footage why they were stopped, but each vehicle is undoubtedly capable of going multiple miles over the speed limit. CHP’s caption on the video reads:

Speeding is dangerous! Speeding is one of the most common driving violations and one of the leading causes of all fatalities in the road. Yesterday, one of our Officers pulled over 9 vehicles on SR-1 for speeding. All drivers were cited.

Whether you’re heading to the Pebble Beach Concours or the 50th Monterey Motorsport Reunion at Laguna Seca, please be respectful of everyone else out on the road for everyone’s safety. If you’re craving to push your supercar flat out, just do it on a closed course.
