Retroactive denial from health insurance for egg retrieval?

Hi all! My health insurance covered my egg retrieval last year. I was surprised that they covered it–it wasn't totally clear to me that it would be covered under the terms of my plan. The fertility clinic billing team just said you have good insurance so it's worth submitting to see if they'll cover it. Now, a year later, the bill for egg storage is due. It hasn't been submitted to insurance yet and I'm wondering if there's any risk in submitting that egg storage bill to insurance. For example, could the insurance company see the egg storage claim and say hey wait a second this isn't covered and also everything last year shouldn't have been covered either and then retroactively deny coverage and bill me $16,000? I can pay the storage fee out of pocket (it's $850 so definitely not an amount I have casually lying around but an amount I could cover if needed). But $16,000 is definitely not an amount I could cover if there's any risk of that care being retroactively denied. Any thoughts would be super helpful!
