Issues with Headway and Carefirst BCBS?

For those that don't know, Headway is a 3rd party billing provider/credentialing service for therapy.

If I had my way, I wouldn't use them but unfortunately I have a handful of very specific therapists I want to work with and they all go through Headway to credential them with Carefirst.

My Carefirst plan covers 100% of mental health office visits for in-network providers even before meeting the deductible. I have verified this both in my policy paperwork and with a CF representative.

Headway is insisting that I have to pay the full session fee before I meet my deductible. I called CF, they said that wasn't true. Then Headway said Carefirst only covers telehealth if it's through their Closeknit platform. I know that's not true. I've had tons of telehealth visits and never used Closeknit. But just for fun I called CF and they were just as confused as I was and again confirmed I should have no co-pay for a routine therapy session whether it's in-person or telehealth no matter which platform I use.

I tried asking Headway if we could have a conference call with CF and was met with crickets.

Is there a way to circumvent this? Supposedly if Headway bills you wrong they'll refund you, but I've heard from others that they never got their refund and just ate the session fee.
