Loss of coverage letter: why is it so hard to get?

Hey everyone, I posted a couple days ago saying I lost my insurance from my dad. Luckily my employer is willing to take me on their benefits even though I’m out of the 31 day “qualifying life event” window. Now I’ve just been trying to get proof that I lost my coverage on June 1st, but it has been an uphill battle.

First I called yesterday and Blue Cross said they couldn’t speak to me without the subscriber (my dad) present. Then I went to my dad’s house and we called Blue Cross and his employer together. I asked if this letter could be emailed to me and both said they weren’t sure and said they would get back to me. His employer emailed me this morning and said that an email was not possible and gave me another phone number to call. We got on a 3 way call together to request it by email again and they said they could only send it by paper mail. I need this form by 8/14 (the deadline set by my employer on 8/7) so mail will not work since they said it will take 7-10 business days to arrive. They then said they will send it to my dad’s benefits portal and it will take 1-2 days.

Now my new fear is that once my dad gets this letter that it will not say my name on it since I’m not the subscriber, and that it will not count as proof that I lost my insurance. Is it normal to go through this much to get proof of loss of coverage? Is there something I could do differently to get this faster? Thank you all in advance!
