I started a new job and hit the 3 month probationary period and am eligible for a health insurance plan through them. Obviously I was happy about this because I wanted to get health insurance for both me and my husband. I received the paperwork Friday & looked it over for just me it's $300 per month but for the employee/spouse plan it's $1,200 😱😱😱

I understand that companies won't pay as much for spouses but wtf this isn't affordable. My husands job doesn't offer insurance he's a contractor & the owner says he's doesn't need to offer insurance because if someone gets hurt they are covered undered workman's comp.

I know I can't get a plan off the health market because my job offers insurance, but when open enrollment comes around in November can we try to find a cheap plan for him or will they deny him because my job offers insurance?
