Do I need life insurance for my situation?

Asking the age-old question here but how does one determine if life insurance is necessary? Based on my conditions below, do I need it?

I'm 28M, making 150k annually in my current role as a software engineer. I'm in great health – I received insurance lab work and I fall under "ultra healthy". My parents are about to hit their 60s – they live by themselves in a small home. My younger brother just graduated college and is now starting to look for career opportunities in tech. I'm unmarried, but I'm in a relationship with plans to get married and have (3-4 kids) within the next 5-10 years. My only debt is mortgage (remaining 600k). My girlfriend is a realtor and makes around 170k, has her own home/mortgage, and her own life insurance policy.

If I need life insurance, how much death benefit would I need? Googling this, someone mentioned a good rule of thumb is anywhere between 6-15x your annual income. However, I assume this very dependent on your actual lifestyle.

Feel free to ask me any additional questions! Thanks!
