How long does it take to be penalized for no insurance/Rhode Island?

Hey, posting here because I'm having a hard time finding a straight answer online. I am leaving my job on July 30th and starting my new one August 12. I can enroll in my new company's insurance plan as soon as I start. I really don't think it is worth staying enrolled in my current company's COBRA continuation plan for ~ 2 weeks until I start because it's expensive.

Health insurance is mandated in RI but I think it makes the most sense to go without insurance for the 12 days and just enroll once I start. I'm seeing from some sources I would have 60 days to enroll in COBRA after leaving my job, others saying I need to start coverage regardless. HealthSource has cheaper plans but I realllllyyyy don't want to go through the effort of enrolling, paying, and canceling so soon…

So I guess my question is, how long can I go in RI with no insurance without any fines/penalties? Anyone have a simliar experience in a mandated state?
