Appeal question health insurance

Hello everyone, I'm seeking advice on an insurance appeal process. I was denied an in-lab sleep study three times and my doctor is appealing the decision. I called my insurance company, Healthy Blue (Medicaid), to ask about the appeal process timeline and they said it would take 60-90 days. I expressed concern about the wait time and they suggested speaking with my doctor about expediting the process.

I spoke with my doctor last Thursday or Friday, and she messaged me through MyChart on Sunday saying she would submit the expedite appeal form. However, I haven't called my insurance company yet to ask about the status of the expedite appeal process.

My questions are:

How long will it take for my doctor to submit the expedite appeal form? How long will it take for my insurance company to receive the form once submitted? Does the 72-hour expedite process timeline start from the moment my doctor submits the form or from the moment my insurance company receives it? Can I call my insurance company before the 72 hours are up to ask about the status, or do I need to wait exactly 72 hours?

I'm asking these questions because I've been reading online that people have received answers from their doctors or insurance companies in less than 72 hours, sometimes just hours after submitting the expedite appeal. I'm unsure if I should call my insurance company today or wait. I live in North Carolina, USA, and I'm currently unemployed due to my health issues, including brain fog and extreme fatigue that slow me down significantly. I'm simply not looking forward to waiting on the phone for a long time if it's not necessary, and I'd like to get a clear response regarding my appeal.
