The Royal Automobile Association of South Australia (RAA) has renewed its partnership with Illuminate Adelaide for the fourth year in a row, continuing its involvement with the popular winter event that attracts thousands to Adelaide’s city centre.

Illuminate Adelaide continues to be a major draw for both residents and visitors. Last year, the event attracted 15,000 visitors from other states and countries, and a total of 1.3 million attendees over its three-week span.

Illuminate Adelaide 2024

The 2024 edition of Illuminate Adelaide began early this month and will continue until July 21, showcasing a variety of art, music, light installations, and technological displays.

“RAA is all about supporting events that bring South Australians out of hibernation, and all the better that it’s being done with renewable and sustainable energy lighting up the city,” said RAA chief marketing officer Michael Healy. “We feel very aligned to the sustainability and environmental goals of Illuminate Adelaide, particularly around renewable energy – which is why our RAA solar and battery business remains a partner.”

RAA member tickets for Fire Gardens event

This year, RAA distributed 6,500 discounted member tickets to the Fire Gardens event, resulting in savings of over $50,000 for its members.

“Our members are at the heart of everything we do at RAA, so we were thrilled to see the tickets snapped up so fast and our members reap the benefits,” Healy said.

RAA solar lounge

Additionally, RAA introduced the RAA solar lounge at this year’s event, a relaxation zone on North Terrace, part of the Base Camp.

The lounge is open exclusively to members from Thursday to Sunday, and to the general public at other times. Visitors can enjoy happy hour, participate in a competition to win $5,000 towards an RAA solar system, or simply relax between events.

The new facility, to be located at 599 Port Rd, will feature automotive services, the Child Safety Centre, driving school, travel and distribution sections, and solar and battery services.
