Holiday Safety Tips

The holiday season is officially here!

The best memories are made around this time—especially memories of your neighborhood decked out in lights and decorations. The twinkling lights and inflatable snowmen really ignite the holiday spark in your heart.

Here are a few safety tips you can follow this year to help avoid the risk of them igniting a spark on your home or causing injury to you and your family!

Don’t overload your plugs

Having too much plugged into one power circuit or plug is sure to cause issues.

Make sure your ladder is on level ground and never use chairs, boxes, garbage cans, or any other unstable object to stand on.

Indoor lights can’t handle extreme weather like snow and can cause a fire to occur if used outside.

If you have a real tree in your home, it is highly flammable. Water it regularly and keep it away from excessive heat or open flames.

Turn the lights and other electronic decorations off when you go to sleep or if you’re away from home

Don’t forget your homeowners insurance

Even when you’re as safe as possible, tragedy can still occur. Review your homeowners insurance policy with your Pekin Insurance Agent to make sure you’re financially protected from potential disasters.

Enjoy your holiday season in the safest possible way this year by following these tips! Keep the holiday spark in your heart and not on your home.
