Doctor’s office did not submit claims to my insurance and will not as deadline has passed

My insurance fucked up and told all my doctors I wasn’t covered when I was in October of last year. I fixed this within a week but had no idea they had denied my psychiatrists claim from October 4. The only reason I knew they were denying claims was because because my PCP informed me of this. My psychiatrists office said nothing. My psychiatrists office told me today that they tried to bill and were denied and mailed a letter informing me I wasn’t covered to a super old address so I never received it. They stopped billing from then on without telling me. I paid each time because i thought that was how much my insurance cost. I have had four appointments since then. Now that I’ve figured out they haven’t been billing my insurance they say they won’t submit a claim for last years appointments. So there’s two doctors appointments last year that should have been covered by insurance but I’ve already paid the cost they charge for uninsured people. Any possibility of getting a refund?

Basically, they billed once and were denied due to an insurance mistake and never informed me. So, they continued charging me the uninsured office visit cost without telling me they weren’t billing my insurance. Can I get a refund for what I paid to the doctors office?
