Charity supporting insurance people urges industry to spread the word

On 24 June 2024, The Insurance Charities is calling for the industry to lend their support to its annual awareness-raising campaign.

The weeklong initiative encourages the insurance community to spread the word about the confidential financial and practical support available for those in the industry facing challenging circumstances.

In the last financial year, the Charity awarded over £1.4 million to current and former insurance people struggling financially across the UK and Ireland.

The Charity’s Chairman, Joshua Brekenfeld said: “Life is challenging for lots of people at the moment, and those working in the insurance industry are no exception. For over 120 years we’ve been supporting insurance people, whatever their role, when life has become difficult.

We can turn insurance people’s lives around, by providing a lifeline to support them and their families with whatever challenges they are facing. Without the industry coming together to raise awareness, we simply wouldn’t reach as many insurance colleagues as we do.”

The Charity’s Honorary President Adrienne O’Sullivan added: “Everyone needs a helping hand from time to time. People should never be ashamed to ask for help. Too often we hear from insurance people who have faced an unexpected life event, but at the time were unaware of support we can provide. This is why this campaign is so crucial.”

The Insurance Charities wants people to highlight the Charity with their professional contacts, particularly those with HR, wellbeing, and line management responsibility.

Anyone in the industry who would like to take part can find out more and download resources from the Charity’s campaign page.
