Charged by Holter monitor company without being told prior

I (21M) went to the doctor on my own for the first time a few weeks ago and did some basic tests such as urine and blood tests. Upon my follow up visit I explained I was having palpitations within the time of the first visit and then. The doctor asked if I would like to perform a EKG to see if there is anything amiss.

After performing the test, he said that I had left ventricular hypertrophy and said that I was going to wear a Holter monitor for the weekend(6/21-6/24) to further monitor my heart. In that moment or visit he did not explain that it was ran through a separate company that would charge me and whether that charge would be covered for by my insurance (in which I have Anthem BCBS). I was simply told that I would given one and one of the nurses applied the monitor to my chest.

Fast forward to this morning where I received an email from Anthem about my EOB and see that I was given a claim for about $7K for the monitor service and that it was out of network.

I'm quite scared and confused as I'm not sure what to do as I don't have that kind of money whatsoever. I just read through the documents that I initially signed when first coming to this doctor and thy don't state anything about agreeing to charges from services such as these only those from labs.

Is there any way to not pay this bill or have it dealt with?
