Should I include this in my appeal letter?
TIA
Background: My grandpa was at a skilled nursing facility quite a bit last year. He was in April 1-8, in hospital, and back to the facility April 15 onward. The facility billed the wrong insurance (which was denied) as his primary so his secondary BCBS also denied. Once Medicare was billed correctly as primary, the bill was resubmitted to BCBS. Many very frustrating calls later from both the facility and me, the payment is still being denied. Grandpa is being sent to collections and isn't able to go back to that conglomerate of skilled nursing facilities.
Present day: Working on the appeal letter. My short question for such a long post is: Is it ok to put in the appeal that the inaction of BCBS has caused him to go into collections and affecting his credit? The guy is 91, so he really doesn't give any f's about his credit score. But it did make it so he had to be admitted to a facility he didn't want to go to. Just not sure if I need to stick only to the cold facts or if a bit of emotional appeal will help this get paid faster.
