Travel insurance?
Hi reddit,
I've often purchased travel health insurance and luckily have never had to use it. I'm about to go to Spain to visit friends for several weeks and I just checked my (United Healthcare PPO) plan to see about travel. Here's what it says under exclusions:
Health care services provided in a foreign country, unless required as Emergency Health Care Services to treat Emergency Medical Condition or Urgent.
If I'm reading it right, emergency services *are* covered, but I'm still feeling a little anxious. I'm in good health, will be with friends, and don't plan to do anything dangerous, but I always like to protect myself if something bad happens. Purchase travel insurance, Yea or Nay?
If yes, I will also happily take recommendations for good insurance options. (I know some of the really cheap ones are difficult to file claims with) I looked at the UHC travel one, since I already have insurance through them, and it would be $76 for the almost 4-week trip, which I'm down to pay if it's the going rate.
(I should also add that since I'm staying with friends, my flights ($850 total) are the only big travel expenses I have, so I am not super worried about insuring my trip itself).
