Howden hires Gareth Davies as Head of Parametric Solutions
Howden, the global insurance and reinsurance broking group, has hired Gareth Davies as its new Head of Parametric Solutions, securing the executive from his most recent employer Price Forbes Re, Artemis has learned.
Davies has worked in insurance broking in the London market since 2011 and has had a focus on innovative risk transfer, including parametric solutions over the course of his career.
Davies had a 13 year career as a professional rugby player, but then moved into financial markets broking as a trader at a commodities house, joining Ambrian Commodities as a trader of metals, natural resources and mining assets in 2008.
He then transitioned across into the insurance and reinsurance industry, first with broker RFIB Group in 2011 and worked on weather risk transfer, parametrics and natural resources related insurance products, among others.
In 2015, Davies became a Partner at JLT Specialty, again with a parametric and weather risk transfer focus to the role, before moving to Tysers in 2018, broking parametrics and credit and political risk insurance, and then joining Price Forbes as an Executive Director, again focused on parametric weather and catastrophe risk transfer solutions, as well as other alternative risk products, mining, renewables and credit.
In 2023, Davies joined Inver Re, the Ardonagh Group’s reinsurance broking arm that subsequently was rebranded to Price Forbes Re as its Chairman, Parametrics.
Now, we’re told, Davies has joined Howden today in the role of Head of Parametric Solutions.
As Head of Parametric Solutions, Davies experience will help Howden to capitalise on the growing interest cedents are showing in parametric insurance and reinsurance, bringing responsive risk transfer solutions to the broker’s client-base.
