Do I really need travel insurance?

I have an Anthem PPO in CA. I am traveling to Europe this summer and asked if I have medical coverage through my US insurance. I was told that "Global Core" is part of my plan, but the person couldn't explain any of the coverages. I put it into ChatGPT, which said that Global Core pretty much works like the PPO and uses those coverages.

I also have an Amex Platinum card, which has its own travel benefits – both medical and travel related. The medical covers up to a $100k medvac, as well as $250k in emergency medical services.

For a 2 week trip, most of the travel insurance companies are quoting me between $250-$750 for coverage. Most of this coverage seems to be less than what the Amex card offers for free, but I see on the Amex groups that people say "absolutely get outside travel insurance."

Between the card and Global Core, do I really have any reason to spend extra?
