EOB: Claims either noted as denied or partially approved… Insurance says I owe $0

I was pre-approved for ortho surgery that I had back in Sept 2023, and based on my research one of the procedure codes was not guaranteed to be covered by my insurance, BCBS. I put down a $3k deposit because of this and was told they may bill me for up to 5x this $2999 'experimental' procedure code for something that is in no way experimental.

I see they've submitted my surgery claim under two different company names. One is indicated as denied but I have a $0 balance, and one is indicated as partially covered and I have a $0 balance on that one as well (same procedures listed).

I've been looking over my shoulder ever since the surgery, and have decided not to check in with my surgeon's billing department. I lost my job so if there's going to be a horrible medical bill, let it be some day in the future when I can actually make payments.

Would you ask the surgeon's office for a statement/accounting? There's no chance they don't know how to reach me – I haven't moved – and they've always sent text messages with any outstanding billing amounts. I did get the bill for a brace after surgery, so I know they can bill me if they want.

Also, I'm curious how long they can wait until they bill me – like, is there a window outside of which a practice may not bill patients?
