Westland Insurance, the lead donor for Covenant House Vancouver’s spring Match Campaign, has committed to a $50,000 matching gift to support the youth homeless shelter. With the insurance broker’s contribution, every donation made by the middle of the year will be matched dollar for dollar.

“Giving back to the communities we serve is engrained in our DNA. This donation aligns perfectly with Westland’s commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of the most vulnerable in our society.”

The brokerage cited Covenant House Vancouver’s commitment to breaking the cycle of houselessness for young people by offering comprehensive programs that include shelter, healthcare, education, and employment support.

It was highlighted that the shelter’s efforts empower youth to achieve their full potential. According to Covenant House Vancouver, as many as 40,000 young people experience homelessness in Canada every year.

In operation for more than two and a half decades, Covenant House Vancouver serves an average of 124 youth on a daily basis. Its programs include whole-person care, housing, drop-in & outreach, and health & wellness.

“By supporting organizations like Covenant House, Westland Insurance is actively working towards creating a brighter future for young individuals in need,” the company stated. “The Match Campaign will continue through June 30.

“With Westland Insurance’s involvement, every donation will have double the impact. Contributions to Covenant House Vancouver can be made on their website and will help provide food, shelter, clothing, and essential support to youth facing houselessness or the threat of human trafficking.”
