Is my employer’s insurance bad? Should I enroll in it?

I am clueless when it comes to health insurance, and I have no idea what's considered "good" or "bad". I was on medicaid when I was a kid because my family was poor, but I have a job now and no Ionger qualify.

My workplace's plan has a deductible of $5000 and an out of pocket cost of $8700. The premium is under 200 (I think around 150?). Nothing other than basic preventative care is covered before the deductible, apparently. I've heard some of my coworkers complain about it, and a lot of them are on their spouses plan instead. I don't have that option tho

The idea of spending $5000 before insurance kicks in is insane to me. I don't make that much money, and I'm the main provider for 3 other people so I don't have a lot of money left at the end of the month. On top of that I have some health issues going on and have had to get a lot of lab work and other stuff (CT, xray, and ultrasounds) done recently, so I know I'll be having to pay for stuff out of pocket since the insurance won't cover it.

A friend told me to look at Marketplace, and if my job didn't offer insurance I'd be able to get a considerable discount, but because it does I'd have to pay full price for coverage. And that just isn't doable.

The insurance my job offers seems not great to me, but do I just have unrealistic expectations? Is it bad?

I don't know what to do, and I really need insurance, and I feel so dumb trying to make sense of insurance costs.
