Question regarding exemption plan limits on the number of pills

I currently take a C2 prescription to treat my ADHD and my plan currently covers my dosage and quantity but after my recent visit my psych and I determined it would be best to see how adding another pill to dosing schedule would effect my symptoms.

I'm currently prescribed 15mg tablets 3x a day which is 90 tablets per month. This is the max coverage per month that my health insurance would cover. So adding another would be 120 tablets per month so I'd be over what my insurance can cover every 30 days.

My question is would I have a hard time submitting an exception form so that i can take the prescribed amount of pills monthly or would I just have to switch to a different dosing, for example my insurance will cover 20mg 3x a day which would equate to the same daily amount mg taken which is 60mg.

Only reason I would prefer 15mg x 4 over 20mg x 3 is because I feel that I react better to the 15mg tablets than I do the 20mg tablets but I'm not sure if that would be a good enough reason for my insurance to allow this.

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Texas Blue Choice PPO by the way.
