Didn’t know about having a primary Insurance still covering me and secondary insurance just denied claims

Hey everyone I am panicking right now because of some hefty bills I might have to pay. So I lost my job last year and I got a cheap bronze plan through covered California. I stopped paying for it as soon as I got a new job and new insurance plan- UHC (dumb mistake on assuming that’s the way to stop coverage I know).

Using the new insurance plan I started doing some therapy appointments which were in network for United health care. Fast forward several months later I get a notice that my payments were retroactively recouped 🙁 and I’m on the hook for several thousands of dollars. My “primary” plan I barely used and it’s a very high deductible one which won’t cover these services. I’m just wondering what my options are and what’s the best recourse. I just got all these notices and have never been in this situation since I just started having my own insurance. Who should I get in touch with?

I am 27 years old living in the Bay Area btw!

Thanks a lot!
