My COBRA was cancelled unexpectedly

After separating from my job, my employer was supposed to cover 3 months of COBRA premiums. So I signed up and made my elections. I get a letter from WEX on the first day of coverage (February 1st) that verbatim states the following:

"We have received your full initial premium payment for enrollment in COBRA continuation coverage through MyCompany Inc, and your premium is now paid through 4/30/2024."

This tracks with covering for 3 months (feb, march, april).

Below that on the letter, I see 4 line items. Health, dental, vision, and mental health. All of them are paid through 4/30/24 except mental health which is paid through 2/29/24. Apparently mental health is only paid for a month I guess(?).

I really don't pay any attention to this after this point because I don't care a bit about the mental health coverage. But long story short it looks like because I owed $12 a month for the mental health coverage starting in March and I never paid it, my medical and dental and vision were all cancelled for non-payment.

So even though nearly $3,000 was subsidized for health/dental/medical from my company until the end of April, because I didn't pay the $12 for mental health coverage it cancelled everything. Even though it said it was "paid through 4/30/24"

Sound about right? The woman at WEX basically said "Yeah you should have kept a closer eye on it"

very annoyed right now. ESPECIALLY since the first letter I got said my premiums were paid through 4/30/24. Who would read that and think they had to do anything until then?
