Blue Cross Blue Shield – coverage by state

Hello! This seems like something that would happen fairly often, but I’m having a hard time finding information on it. I currently have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia as my insurance provider through my employer. I reside in Oklahoma, and had a lab test done after calling both the insurance company as well as the test provider to confirm they were in-network. But, now the claim is being filed as “out of network” because it is out of network for BCBS of Oklahoma, where the test was done (remember – my plan is BCBS of Georgia).

I have talked with BCBS at least 15 times about this, at one point it was escalated and they confirmed it should have been in-network, and I have an email from them confirming this and confirming I owed nothing. Yet the claim was never adjusted, and every person I have spoken to since continues to say it was out of network.

The lab has escalated on their end as well, but I continue to get no where. I am at my wits end and have no idea what to do to get anyone to take care of it, you’d think the email confirmation would work, but no.

Any advice on how to handle this/communicate with insurance to where they will actually properly adjust the claim?
