With the news yesterday that asset manager Schroders Capital has grown its insurance-linked securities (ILS) assets under management (AUM) above $5 billion, the company also announced some structural changes to the team there.

Both Daniel Ineichen and Flavio Matter were named as the new Co-Heads of ILS for Schroders Capital yesterday, where they will continue to report to Stephan Ruoff, Co-Head of the Private Debt & Credit Alternatives business.

Ruoff himself was also given a new position, having been appointed as Chair of ILS, it was announced in yesterday’s news story.

With this new structure put in place for the senior ILS team at Schroders Capital, the changes have cascaded down and two long-standing team members have now been promoted to new roles with greater responsibility for two of the key functions of an ILS investment management business.

Nina Nikolova is taking on the role of Head of Origination ILS, which will see her leading activities on that front.

Nikolova joined the Schroders ILS team when the firm acquired Secquaero Advisers and has spent more than a decade focused on non-life underwriting for ILS strategies, before which she was an actuary at reinsurance firm Flagstone Re.

In her new role, Nikolova will continue to report to Flavio Matter, Co-Head of ILS.

Meanwhile, Guillaume Courtet has taken on the role of Head of Portfolio Management ILS, so will lead activities on the portfolio management side of the ILS investments business at Schroders Capital.

Courtet joined Schroders Capital in 2019 as an ILS portfolio manger, having previously spent over 4 years at AXA Investment Managers also managing portfolios of catastrophe bonds and ILS instruments, prior to which he worked as a risk consultant at broker Marsh.
