In an effort to bridge the gender seniority gap in re/insurance, the ISC Group has announced the appointment of Carmen Powell as its interim managing director. She joined the organization’s global team on March 4, 2024.

Powell brings a track record of over two decades in senior marketing roles, with a focus on business transformation and the achievement of sustainable objectives for a wide range of entities, including corporate firms, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and non-profits. She will now be at the helm of the organization’s global business development strategy, specializing in enhancing ISC Group’s membership offerings.

Powell is responsible for supporting businesses in enhancing their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategies.

“Our shared commitment to the advancement of women in business fuels my eagerness to contribute to the organization’s commendable mission. I look forward to collaborating with industry leaders to highlight the value of ISC Group membership for professional women in insurance and to play a part in increasing the representation of women in managerial and senior roles within the sector,” Powell said.

Powell plans to work closely with the global team and broaden its global community outreach to include women from across the world.

Barbara Schonhofer MBE, group executive chair of ISC Group, Global, expressed her enthusiasm for Powell’s appointment.

“Carmen’s extensive experience with prominent organizations, including her role in expanding international revenues at the Chartered Insurance Institute and her contributions to sustainability and ethical initiatives at the World Bank Group, positions her as an ideal candidate to lead our organization forward,” Schonhofer said.
