Kemper mourns death of board director

Kemper Corporation has announced the death of Kathleen M. Cronin, a member of its board of directors.

Cronin, who had been battling an extended illness, died on March 3. She had been a member of Kemper’s board since February 2015, contributing to various board committees over the years.

Cronin’s career was marked by significant achievements in corporate law and governance. Before joining Kemper, she held the position of senior managing director, general counsel, and corporate secretary at CME Group Inc., where she played a pivotal role.

Her legal acumen was also honed at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

In a news release, Joseph P Lacher, Jr, president, CEO, and chairman of Kemper, expressed his sorrow over Cronin’s death.

“Kathleen was a meaningful contributor to our board, and we’re deeply saddened at her passing,” Lacher said.

He praised Cronin’s character, professionalism, and the positive impact she had on the company.

“She was truly a great person and we’re honored to have had the opportunity to be associated with her. We will miss Kathleen’s advice, wit, insight, and wise counsel.”

Lacher also extended his deepest sympathies to Cronin’s family during this difficult period, reflecting the respect and admiration she garnered during her tenure at Kemper and her career in law and governance.
