America’s First RUF SCR Was Just Delivered And We're Drooling

RUF Automobiles has been blowing minds and setting performance standards for decades, and now its newest production vehicle has finally arrived in the U.S.. Sharing design basics with the 993-generation Porsche 911 but made entirely out of carbon fiber and featuring a Mezger-based but RUF cast, naturally-aspirated, dry sumped, water-cooled aluminum flat-6, this ain’t no average Porsche. The new owner received delivery of the first RUF SCR in America on December 12.

This is not another restomod that requires a donor car, this is a ground-up new car platform that was released in 2019 and was RUF’s second car built on its in-house engineered carbon fiber monocoque chassis after the CTR Anniversary in 2017.

The first and only RUF SCR currently in the United States has an Ivory exterior over a black and grey alcantara interior, and features RUF’s carbon-fiber lollipop bucket seats with pepita inserts. Translated into layman’s terms, this SCR shows restrained beauty with a purposeful interior, but I’ve seen some other RUFs with more characterful color schemes that look even better.

The SCR was designed to be a monumental driver’s car. Its naturally-aspirated Mezger-derived motor is handbuilt along with everything else at RUF’s headquarters in Pfaffenhausen, Germany. Its 6-speed manual transmission was designed specifically for RUF by legendary transmission builder ZF, and RUF engineered its Integrated Roll Cage to beef up the structural integrity and safety of this rolling ticket to driving nirvana.

SCR weighs only 2,756-pounds, is capable of a RUF-claimed 0-100 km/h time of 3.4-seconds, produces 510-horsepower at 8,270 RPM, and features four-corner double wishbone and pushrod dampers like a true track beast. Base price for this bespoke beauty is around €930,000 (or over $1.02 million here in the States), but all 70 build slots are already allocated. RUF said that more SCRs will come to America but did not specify how many will find homes in the U.S..

RUFs are imported into the United States by RUF North America, which has a facility at The Concours Club in Miami where new owners can test their car’s limits around the track with custom racing suits, shoes, and a custom Sparco helmet included as part of the delivery experience. RUF North America also provides service and parts for Yankee RUFs.
