United Indemnity/Critical Illness/Accident Plan

Hi, so I don’t know much about health insurance, but due to my job not providing insurance I’ve had to buy private insurance for the last few yrs.

I’m currently on a Kaiser Gold plan, but they’re increasing it from $340 to $400 a month, starting next year, so I wanted to shop around for a new plan and I thought speaking to a broker would be smart, considering the cheapest i could find on the marketplace was close to $300 with a high deductible.

So I spoke to a broker, and they said they found a plan that was $200, but they didn’t properly explain to me that it was an indemnity plan or what that even was. I ended up agreeing to it, but upon further research it seems like she scammed me into a worthless plan that isn’t even real health insurance.

I take the blame for my ignorance, but she was pressuring me into applying over the phone, even though I told her I wanted to research it more. The only reason I agreed was because she said I could cancel it (but she of course had to mention how this would hurt her reputation or some nonsense.)

I was just wondering, is a United indemnity/critical illness/accident plan as bad as I’m reading or is it worth keeping if I can save $200 vs my Kaiser plan?

It doesn’t kick in until Jan, so I can cancel it and stay on my Kaiser plan, which I’m leaning towards, but figured I would ask.

Money is tight for me right know and the extra $200 a month in my pocket would help a lot, but it wouldn’t be worth it if it means I have to fight with united over claims constantly and not have comprehensive coverage.
