Hi all, looking for advice on how to best manage the financials and to best prepare for a worst case medical scenario. I am engaged to my partner who make significantly less income than me with a restrictive HMO plan from the marketplace. We are awaiting diagnostics, but a cancer diagnosis is a very real possibility. Obviously I want him to have the best possible care options, and I would absolutely marry him tomorrow to get him on my employer-based health insurance. He currently has marketplace ACA insurance, but is there possibly a world where my helping fund the best possible ACA plan would be a smarter move as we’re concerned about possible financial implications together (like paying for a future wedding, retirement, medical debt, etc)?

Navigating these questions with the anxiety of a looming diagnosis is very stressful and I want to be sure we take the best possible route for our future and his care as possible. I don’t want to go to a dark place because we don’t know what the diagnosis is just yet, so trying to make sure we understand our options.
