Infusion due next month and ran out of insurance, any advice? medicaid?

Need advice.

US citizen.

I have been abroad for the last 3 years. Visa ended recently which means my job and medical did too.

I get infusions for my IBD every 2 months along with a 2-month supply of Mesalazine pills.

I plan to move to the DC/Maryland/Virginia area long-term with my gf after Christmas. I am in Europe for Christmas and something else, so going back now is not an option.

The main problem is – I don't have a job yet. Plus, I don't have a place in DC area yet. And my infusion is due January 12 (I can push it back 1 or 1.5 weeks at most).

Should I try to get medical insurance set up (while I am abroad) through Medicaid and just use a friend or an Airbnb as the address? I don't really have many friends there that I feel comfortable with asking to use their addresses.

How long do you think it'll take to get Medicaid set up? Do I need to be there to do multiple appointments in person?

I've never had Medicaid.
