Need advice. I elected for Cobra almost seven weeks ago, but reinstatement of coverage is starting to feel hopeless.

Everything is paid up to date. I was initially told by my insurance, Delta Dental, that the average timeframe for reinstatement is seven to ten business days after electing for Cobra. Since then, I’ve been stuck in a loop of calling the Cobra people and the Delta people—but they only keep pointing the finger at each other.

The Delta people said my account is inactive and to contact the Cobra people to send what they need to. The Cobra people said they’ve sent everything to Delta and it’s on them. At one point, a person at Cobra said they would reach out to Delta and get back to me. This was almost a month ago. All they will tell me now is that Delta still hasn’t gotten back to them but they’ll keep trying. And every time I try to get on Delta about this, it basically comes back to blaming the Cobra people. Again, it feels like I’m stuck in a loop that I don’t know how to break.

In the meantime, I’ve been to the Dentist twice and need a root canal this coming week. I can’t pay this one out of pocket, and it’s starting to really stress me out because my tooth is killing me. I would never have imagined that my coverage still wouldn’t be active at this point. But now I’m not hopeful that it will be resolved in the next five days after it’s been seven weeks. I don’t know who’s in the right or wrong between Cobra and Delta—at this point, I just want to feel like I’m actually making some sort of progress. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
