Help choosing an individual plan

I need some advice or help regarding a new health insurance plan for myself in the new year. I was offered insurance through work, the plan is not great I hear, and I originally opted out because of the cost. It’s an MVP plan and Solstice( for dental and vision) and it would be $436 monthly deducted from my pay check. I make $49k annually gross.

I have had a silver Fidelis medical and dental plan through the New York State exchange. The monthly premium will be $297 with government subsidies in the new year. I am not happy with this plan for a few reasons: 1. can’t find a dentist who will take the plan (i’m in need of a gum graft soon…) and 2. because of a miscommunication between Fidelis and my therapist’s office regarding copays, I was misquoted and mis-charged for therapy sessions. I was paying $30 per session until I received a bill from my therapist’s office for the full price of past sessions. The full price for sessions is about $110.

I can not afford any of this. I’m contemplating getting a bronze plan for 2024, to lower my monthly premium and getting a dental plan separately. I hesitate to do this because of the New York State offerings – all of the bronze plans require me to pay out of pocket the full price of therapy until a very high deductible is met.

I don’t know much about telehealth companies that offer therapy online. This might be a cheaper option. If you have experience using a betterhealth or something like that, I’d like to hear about your experience. Specifically, do you meet with the same provider each session?

I don’t know anything about dental insurance alternatives. If I need surgery, is insurance the best way to deal with this?

I’ll take all and any money saving tips. Thank you.
