Pennsylvania – Medical Assistance as Secondary Insurance to Employer Plan?

Hello! I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to go about staying compliant.

I am currently enrolled in Medical Assistance (Medicaid) in Pennsylvania. At some point in December I will start a new job and will be eligible for employer provided insurance starting 1/1/24. On 1/2/24 I am going to have a long scheduled surgery to repair a hernia. Because my employer insurance coverage will begin the day before, I would love to use the employer plan as my primary insurance and the Medicaid plan as secondary. Is this legal/doable? Or do I need to ensure in some way that my Medicaid plan is stopped before I get employer based coverage?

I intend to report the new job upon my actual start date and the change in income once I receive a check and can estimate future earnings.

I'm really worried about these changes in insurance immediately surrounding my surgery. Any insight would be helpful.
