Urgent: Insurance Changing and Pre-Surgery Appointment Scheduled

Hi Everyone!

I am scheduled to have surgery on 12/11, but my insurance provider will likely be changing on 12/4. (I am on my spouse's insurance and they will be starting a new job on 12/4.)

I have a medical clearance examination scheduled for this Monday (11/27) morning, and I am also supposed to complete some required labs prior to the surgery.

My question is, if I get the labs and medical clearance exam done through my initial insurance next week, can the new insurance later deny my surgery and refuse to pay for it? I am not sure how the pre-authorization works.

Unfortunately, we don't yet know the specifics of the new insurance plan, otherwise I would try giving them a call to see what I can find out. I also left a message with the surgeon's office about how to best navigate the situation, but haven't heard back and am not sure if they will get back to me in time.

If it were you, would you still go to the medical clearance appointment on Monday morning?

Thank you in advance!!!
