Hi there! My dad is a 55 year old man who has had health insurance through his job pretty much his whole life. Although due to a job shift a couple months ago we lost all insurance. He unknowingly thought bought a medishare program, thinking it was health insurance. I tore my ACL, MCL and Meniscus while we had the medishare program and…shocker (not really!) they covered absolutely nothing for surgery. So, now that open and enrollment is here we need new insurance. Im an 18 year old girl, so I have no idea what to do, but I’m extremely scared he’s going to, once again, get scammed, and buy a bad plan.

We have 4 people in my family, and our household income is over 120k a year. We want private insurance, but I’m pretty sure the broker my dad is attempting to use is selling us a non-insurance deal. How do we find an insurance broker that will actually sell us a good plan?

Also, I go to school half way across the country, so we need something that will actually be able to cover nationwide. What do I do from here, because I feel like our options are extremely limited.

Sorry if this is confusing, this is my first time using reddit so I don’t really know how to use it, I just want to help my dad.
