I have two options at work. I'll be doing the family plan I'll try to make this as clear as possible. I based this off of 26 biweekly paychecks per year which is what I get.

PPO 500, $366 a paycheck that's $9516 a year $500 deductible per person and $1000 deductible whole family. $2000 out of pocket maximum.

PPO 2000, $149 a paycheck thats $3874 a year. $2,000 deductible per person and $4,000 deductible whole family. $5,000 out of pocket maximum.

These plans are exactly the same covered services only difference is price, deductible and out of pocket maximum. I've always gone with the PPO 2000. Everyone always says "oh you have kids now you better get the low deductible insurance your going to need it". Well with the $3874 it cost a year for the PPO2000 plus it's out of pocket maximum of $5,000 that would only equal $8,874. While with the PPO500 your paying $9,516 just in your paychecks.

So my question is why would anyone ever get the low deductible PPO 500 plan. Am I missing something?
